Steel and Fused Glass

Windows began as an exploration of glass rather than steel. I was interested in creating layered compositions within the glass itself, designing individual shapes that were cut, arranged, and kiln fused between clear glass panels to create depth, color, and subtle transparency.
The surrounding steel framework serves as a simple architectural structure, supporting and framing the glass without competing for attention. As viewers move around the sculpture, overlapping frames reveal changing relationships between the colorful glass panels and the surrounding negative space.
Although the geometry of the steel provides order, the fused glass remains the visual focus—adding light, color, and a sense of depth that changes throughout the day.
A Personal Note
Windows was one of my earliest explorations combining sculpture and glass. At the time, I was fascinated by the possibilities of kiln-formed glass and wanted to create a structure that allowed the glass to become the primary visual element. Looking back, I can see ideas that would continue throughout my work: geometric forms, layered space, and an interest in how different materials influence one another.
