Morning Spin began as an exploration of movement through repeated forms. I was interested in how a series of simple linear elements could be rotated and arranged to create a sculpture that felt fluid and energetic while remaining completely static.
As the elements twist around a central axis, the sculpture changes dramatically with every viewpoint. From one angle it appears to open like a fan, while from another it compresses into a much denser form. Light and shadow further emphasize the rhythm of the individual members, creating a sense of motion that evolves as the viewer moves around the sculpture.
The bright orange finish reinforces that energy, allowing the form to stand apart from its surroundings while emphasizing the changing geometry created by the repeated elements.
A Personal Note
I enjoy discovering how simple shapes can create unexpected movement. Morning Spin grew from that curiosity. Rather than trying to tell a specific story, I wanted to create a sculpture that rewards exploration and offers a different experience from every angle.
