Journey

2012

Powder Coated Steel
96 × 60 × 60 inches
750 lbs.

Journey was my first large-scale sculpture, beginning as a small maquette before being developed into the full-sized work.

Created in honor of a dear friend, the sculpture is composed of ninety-two individual steel tubes, each representing one year of his life. Arranged in a flowing composition, the repeated forms suggest the twists, turns, challenges, and unexpected moments that shape every life. Although each tube stands alone, together they create a unified whole, much like the experiences that define a lifetime.

Journey remains part of my personal collection, although the concept lends itself to commissioned works celebrating an individual's own unique path.

A Personal Note

This sculpture has always been special to me because it marked the beginning of my work at a larger scale. More importantly, it celebrates a life well lived.
