I created Embrace as an exploration of the quiet strength found in meaningful relationships. Rather than depicting figures, I wanted to express the idea through abstract forms that suggest individuality while remaining inseparably connected.
A sweeping band unifies the composition without dominating either form. To me, it represents the unseen bonds that strengthen our lives- between partners, family, friends, and communities. Each form maintains its own identity, yet together they create a balance neither could achieve alone.
One of the aspects I enjoy most about this sculpture is how it transforms as you move around it. Every viewpoint reveals a different relationship between the forms, inviting the viewer to discover new compositions while experiencing the work from their own perspective.
I produced two versions of Embrace. The original commission was fabricated in 14-gauge silicon bronze and finished with a silver nitrate patina. I later revisited the design in stainless steel, applying a custom hand-finished surface that reflects ambient light- a finish that has become a signature element in many of my sculptures.
A Personal Note
Some of life's strongest connections aren't defined by words, but by presence, trust, and mutual support. My hope is that Embrace reminds viewers of those relationships in their own lives- the people who have shaped them, stood beside them, and helped them become more than they could have been alone.
